Eye exam

Finding your perfect pair of glasses starts with your eye exam. When you come in for your exam, we will not only check your overall eye health and discuss any vision concerns, but we will also determine if you need new or updated prescription lenses.

Determining Your Prescription for Lenses

Different eye conditions require different prescriptions for corrective lenses and contacts. During eye exams, we perform refractive error tests and other services to identify what type of refractive error you have. Then you’ll identify letters through a phoropter with each eye separately as well as together so that your eye doctor can determine what prescription is necessary to correct your vision.

Eyeglasses or Contact Lenses?

There’s no need to choose! Many of our patients decide to get both eyeglasses and contact lenses. The prescriptions will be different for both because of where the lenses sit on your eyes. We are here to support your eye needs, rain or shine, and we certainly get a lot of shine here in California! The human eye is an incredible, yet sensitive mechanism, and protecting your eyes from harmful UV damage is crucial to their long-term health. This is why we also carry a wide selection of frames for sunglasses, which we can fit with your unique corrective lenses.

We only carry trusted, top-of-the-line brands for eyeglasses and sunglasses at both our greater San Diego, CA locations. Our selection of frames in Encinitas includes designs by Burberry®, Versace®, Prodesign Denmark, and Maui Jim®. In Carlsbad, we carry CELINE, Gucci®, and Saint Laurent®.

Let us do the rest

After you select your frames, we’ll send them to the lab where they’ll be expertly outfitted with your corrective lenses. Then we’ll complete our own in-house inspection to make sure the lenses are correct and the glasses are the best quality. We’ll contact you as soon as they’re ready! Our turnaround time is usually about 1-2 weeks.
